In order to solve some internet connection faults it is important that we get information from a "speed test". A speed test tests your internet connection speed and provides an upload figure and a download figure. Sometimes we may ask that the information from this speed test is emailed to us.

A speed test can be run by visiting www.speedtest.net. Other sites can also run speed tests but we recommend using Ookla's speed test.

Step 1

Open a web browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer.

Step 2

Navigate to www.speedtest.net in the address bar at the top of the browser. Wait for this to load. Depending on your speed this may take several minutes.

Step 3

The webpage should look like this. Different adverts may appear on the page.Click the 'BEGIN TEST' button towards the centre of the screen. Wait for the test to complete - again this may take some time to complete.

Step 4

Once the test has completed it should show a results page similar to the one below. Make a note of the speeds and take a screen capture of the page. This can be done by pressing the print screen button on your keyboard (make be labelled as PrtScn) and pasting the results into a Word document or Paint file. Save the results as you may be asked to email this to an agent.
